Fashion Visionary Virgil Abloh Dies
Virigl Abloh, the first African-American creative director of a French luxury fashion house died from cancer. He was a briliant Fashion designer, a visionary and a leader.
- Virgil Abloh died on November 28, 2021 at the age of 41.
- He was the artistic director of Louis Vuitton's menswear collection beginning in 2018. LVMH increased his creative responsibilities in early 2021.
- Virgil Abloh founded and led a Milan-based label Off-White.
- He entered the world of international Fashion with an internship at Fendi in 2009, alongside Kanye West. The two then began an artistic collaboration that would launch Abloh's career into founding Off-White.
- For more than two years, Abloh privately battled a rare, aggressive form of cancer, cardiac angiosarcoma, with his death coming as a shock to many in the fashion industry.
- “We are all shocked by this terrible news,” LVMH chief executive Bernard Arnault said in a statement.
“Virgil was not only a genius designer, a visionary, but also a man with a beautiful soul and great wisdom.”
